post Is Microsoft totally out of ideas?

I’ve had my Cherry Chocolate phone for about a year now. So imagine my surprise when I see the design of the new Zune:

       

So did Microsoft just say “screw it” and do a copy n paste here? This sure wouldn’t be the first time. Then again, I could probably say the same thing about LG:

  1. They’re both just the same color, have a control pad beneath the screen and….that’s about it. Hardly a copy and paste job.

  2. Definitely not innovative, thats for sure. On the heels of the ipod touch, this is a weak competitor. I think “status quo” would be more accurate than “copy and paste”, and I think that’s the point Mike is trying to make.

  3. Yeah, that’s more what I was referring to. There just doesn’t seem to be any innovation in design anymore. I can just imagine the first design meeting for these devices: “Ok, it’ll have a big screen at the top and a wheel at the bottom. I’ll let you engineers take it from here…”
