And since Firefox users tend to already be more technical, I think that would automatically knock it out of my target audience... for the most part. That said, I still think it's generally okay to use "mailto", but only because you can still highlight and copy the email address in text form right from the page itself. And, depending on your target market, it's not unusual to have a desktop mail client.
